This week my Japanese teacher said "in Japan there is no Christmas tradition but we love shopping" and this is certainly what it is, for this society Xmas means big shopping (they love giving presents) and that's it, of course there is nothing to do with religion and these days are mainly done for consumption and to expense money, streets overcrowded of people buying in an environment that could be easily Barcelona since it's full of lights and Xmas trees and songs everywhere, actually is really nice, I recommend Omotesando street in Harajuku, a pity I couldn't take any decent picture

In case someone wants to try the shopping experience in Tokyo however, be sure you will get a real sociologic experience, first as I said in previous posts, the costumer service is excellent, they really make you feel very comfortable and respected, just getting in everyone welcomes you with a warm "irashaimasse", but be aware to wear adequate shoes in case you wanna buy clothes because usually In the dressing rooms you have to be barefoot, and the best what I discovered last day...in some shops they have a kind of bags to cover your head (I believe to avoid to stain clothes)....a nice example of how Japanese feel hygiene.
