Halloween´12...blood & hot!!

And another year Halloween came to Tokyo! Since weeks ago the event was already present in shops and finally this last weekend we had the "official" celebration, and what a Halloween night...I tell you that if nothing else, Japanese knows a bit of how to party!. This celebration so integrated in the american culture seems to slowly make as well its place in this country, at least in the big cities, and well based on my experience I would say it fits very well here. I'd even say that they have their own evolved celebration...and not much for the cultural aspects but rather the party and costume's style being used. Here the scariest night of the year comes evenly with blood or zombies and short skirts...but above all it comes with lots of fun! So, this year we went to Shibuya and the street party we found at center gai (literally centrat street, ) was memorable. Here some pics I took with my phone (damn me I left the camera at home!) plus some other I found on the net so that you can get a better idea.

Publicitat holografica!

In other occasions I had already written about the particular advertising style they have in Japan...and actually the more I see them, the more attracted I'm...as a consumer I must say that they know how to get you attention, either with original campaigns or complete different presentations. Yesterday I was in the subway as every morning and suddenly I realized there was something wrong with the ad I had in front of me. At first I thought I was still sleepy but when I got closer I realized that actually it was a kind of hologram ad that change its image depending on how you look at it....quite interesting isn't it? I mean, I'm not gonna say this is the most innovative ad ever seen but the result is quite impressive and probably will get its results. The product, by the way, is a drug to deal with gastritis (stomach ache)...as you will see quite clear for the ad, even without knowing Japanese!

Al Kagaya, un comiat únic! - At Kagaya, a unique farewell!

Aquí us deixo unes fotos i vídeos...

When you live abroad, your social life becomes a constant movement of people leaving and arriving. These last weeks unfortunately, it´s more about farewells than arrivals, the latest has been Cesc (Sesuku for the japanese) who after expiring his visa will go to Southeast asia for a while. So as usual, we organized a kind of farewell, well in his case more rather "see you soon" since he will come back in some months. And well, well, well...what a farewell, one of the craziest experiences in Japan so far. Looking for a place to go a friend of us recommended Kagaya, an izakaya in Shimbashi, a popular neighborhood especially on working days since there are lots of yakitoris packed with salarymen. Jemima told us "go there, it's a unique experience..." and with this in mind we went there without knowing very well what we would find, and what we saw was indeed unique.  The place doesn´t say much at first, very small with only four tables, an old woman in the kitchen and the owner running around. But immediately we understood it was him the key character of that place, and what a character, a guy with a kind of bipolar behavior moving constantly from the driest seriousness to a complete madness. Altogether it was a real show, he spent all night doing performances and dirty jokes that especially made our japanese friends feel embarrassed of him, they couldn´t believe to see a japanese behaving like that!. At the end it was a singular experience and surely unforgettable for Cesc before leaving. Here sime pics and videos...some priceless.

Itterashai cake for Sesuku!

I aquí els videos...el primer, absolut surrealisme, l'anomenaria ¨la granota Dick¨....com us he dit el tipus tenia un humor bastant verd i pervert, mai més ben dit.
And here the videos...the first one quite surrealistic. I would call it "Dick the frog"...as I said, the guy had quite a pervert sense of humor :)

Barbacoa i la cituat - BBQ an the city

Sona estrany no?

What would you think if someone tells you to do a BBQ in October with more than twenty people in the middle of a city of more than 12M inhabitants?? bizarre isn´t it? so this is exactly to what I was invited last weekend, ¨last BBQ of the summer at Tokyo downtown" they told me. Not very convinced I went there and suddenly I found myself in Odaiba, next to the bay, in a place full of tipi tents kind, barbecues and even hammocks! All very japanese, perfect organization, we only had to take care of our drinks, all the rest was included in the price, food, material, charcoal....so at the end I did spend my evening eating grilled meat with the astonishing landscape of Tokyo skyscrapers surrounding us!
